I put the file on one of our servers and tried the compact again (in case I was running into a free space issue) and that did nothing (although it spent plenty of time doing something).
I cloned the original drive to the new drive, and this worked, but did not correct the size issue. This made a drive of the correct size, but it wouldn't boot (not too surprising since it did so from within the OS). I added another drive to the machine and used EaseUS Partition Manager to copy the contents from one drive to the other. I used the defragment and cleanup feature through VMware on the virtual disk. What I am trying to do is shrink them back to a normal size.
I have a couple VMware Player virtual machines, and like most they grow in size as I copy/move files. I am sure at least one of you guys can help me with this.
